Music has given voice to our Beth El congregation throughout our 70-year history. From the beautiful liturgical melodies of our participatory services to the celebrated musical programs throughout the year, it is an integral part of who we are. Here are some upcoming concert events:
Shul Sisters in Concert
Sunday January 15, 2023
Acclaimed (and local) Cantors Laurie Akers (Congregation Or Shalom in suburban Chicago), and Rachel Brook (Anshe Emet Synagogue, Chicago, IL) are joined by Cantor Rachel Goldman (Congregation Beth Yeshurun, Houston, TX) to form Shul Sisters, a dynamic cantorial vocal trio. United by their shared desire to use music to lift women’s voices, and the belief that joining together in song reminds us of our inherent worth and beauty, Shul Sisters put on a show you won’t want to miss!
Shabbat Shira featuring The Choral Torah Collective
February 3 -4, 2023
Shabbat Shira is when we read the Song of The Sea, and is therefore a great reason to indulge in more music! Join us throughout Shabbat with artist-in-residence The Choral Torah Collective. Led by cantorial student and composer Josh Ehrlich, they are an a cappella vocal quartet who bring texts of Torah and Tefillah to life through music. Stay tuned for more information on the many opportunities to sing, pray, listen and learn together.
Do you play a wind or string instrument? Can you read music? Then contact Hazzan Sandler (jsandler@nssbethel.org) to let him know so you can play with our Klezmer Band during the megillah reading on Purim and at other festive points throughout the year!
