Magen David Adom (MDA) is the official ambulance, blood-services, and disaster relief organization, serving as emergency medical first responders for all of Israel’s 10.2 million people. MDA receives no direct government funding and relies heavily on the generosity of our American friends to support its life-saving work.
The case for the campaign:
In any given year, the American Friends of Magen David Adom (AFMDA) is responsible for securing 75-100 ambulance sponsorships.
There is an urgent need for 300 ambulances at this time for four reasons:
1. Because of Israel’s war with Hamas, there is a greater need for ambulances to respond to those who are ill, injured, and wounded.
2. Many of MDA’s ambulances have been damaged and a number have been stolen by Hamas in the course of the conflict.
3. Because of the delays in getting ambulances to Israel caused by Covid, many ambulances are now nearing retirement from service.
4. There is a possibility of another front opening in the north.
The ambulance sponsorship:
• All congregations and donors will be invited to a special dedication ceremony prior to transporting the ambulance to Israel.
• Donors contributing $10,000+ will have the opportunity for their family name to be inscribed on the ambulance doors.
