Mitzvah Day 2023 was Awesome!!

The event kicked off on Sunday, March 19th, with two inspiring speakers: Vickie Marasco from Art Impact Project and Genève Hein from JCFS.

A big shout out to our caring Beth El community. Together we created:

– 20 fleece blankets for the Linus Project.

– Beth El Preschool Families helped collect and make 61 School Supply Kits for Families Helping Families. 

– 30 Bags of supplies (towel/ toys, food and blankets) for the Furry Friends Collection to be distributed to animal shelters.

– 60 Beth El members prepared bags and bags of plarn (made from plastic bags) to weave into sleeping mats for the homeless for Gratitude Generation. 

– The Cohen Religious School students designed 20 sets of matzah trays, matzah covers, wine charms, and decorative loving plaques for gifting to HAZAK and Gidwitz Place.

– 8 Beth El members signed up to provide food to PORCH’s monthly food pickup.

– 35 boxes of crackers were collected for Moraine Township Food Pantry.

– The Cohen Religious School helped collect 75 boxes of cereal for PORCH.

– 50 arts and craft bags were packed up for the Highwood Library.

– Members of our community donated their bikes to Working Bikes. 

– 200+ hearts were created for Art Impact Project. (Keep a look out for our Beth El art installation and find your heart). 

 

Wait there’s more!

Coffee, kippot and challah coverings were sold to support the Jewish Community of Uganda, members signed up to help the The Refuge Resettlement Program and the JUF Tov Awareness for Good Deeds Day the week of April 16th.
