Rachel Erlich Kamin is named the 2021 Fanny Goldstein Merit Award – Come Celebrate!!
Our very own Rachel Erlich Kamin has been named the 2021 Fanny Goldstein Merit Award Winner by the Association of Jewish Libraries. The Fanny Goldstein Merit Award, named for the librarian, social activist and founder of National Jewish Book Month, is bestowed in recognition of loyal and ongoing contributions to the Association of Jewish Libraries and to the profession of Judaica Librianship.
Cheryl Banks also received this award in 2003 and as far as anyone can tell, North Suburban Synagogue Beth El is the only institution to have two of its librarians among this elite group of Jewish librarians. This speaks volumes for our synagogue’s incredible commitment to its library and librarians, and Beth El should be commended and recognized for this as well.
We will be celebrating Rachel’s award, along with her thirteen years of service to Beth El, on Tuesday, July 20, from 6:30-7:30pm, with an outdoor Covid-safe reception in the backyard. Register to attend here.
The reception itself will be $36 pp and we’re also using this occasion as a way to fundraise for the Joseph and Mae Gray Cultural & Learning Center Fund (CLC Fund). Opportunities to give are at the following levels:
$180 Page Turners
$360 Book Lovers
$540 Reader’s Circle
$1800 Writer’s Circle
$3600 Publisher’s Circle
$5400 Literary Society
The CLC Fund will be in need of replenishing itself in the amount of $8,000/year to cover the costs of our books, materials and programs on an annual basis. If you are interested in helping to fund this opportunity with a cash gift and/or a gift to the CLC Endowment Fund, please contact Judy Berkeley at email@example.com or (312)720-0045.
