Women's Rosh Hodesh Group

Rosh Hodesh (Hebrew for ‘new month’) is a celebration of the new moon in the Jewish lunar calendar, and was regarded as a mini-festival. According to Midrash (rabbinic commentary), women were given this festival because they refused to donate their jewelry for the creation of the Golden Calf. Special prayers were added in anticipation of and on Rosh Hodesh, and women were traditionally exempted from working on Rosh Hodesh. In keeping with this tradition, we facilitate a group to explore various topics of interest. Our multi-generational group meets monthly for Ma’ariv, warm camaraderie, a special presentation, and light refreshments. Come once or several times!
